January Member Spotlight

Pam Picray, the current Continuing Education Committee Chair, has been a librarian for 38 years.

She received her degree from Mississippi University for Women and began her career as Medical Librarian for the United States Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Since 1988, Pam has been a school librarian at Gottlieb Day School, Hendricks Avenue Day School, and Duval County Public Schools (DCPS).

Currently she is the librarian at Spring Park Elementary School in Jacksonville. She also serves as the mentor for new librarians for DCPS. Pam is also the organizer of the Librarian PLC for Duval County, which meets monthly and is in charge of the yearly Back to School meeting for DCPS librarians.

She has served on the NEFLIN Continuing Education Committee twice, currently as Chair. Pam is a past-president of M.E.D.I.A., the professional organization for librarians in Duval County.

Pam has presented at numerous District, State and National conferences and this year she was nominated for the ALA “I Love my Librarian” Award.

Outside of the library, Pam works with Edward Waters College athletics, Jacksonville Giants, and volunteers with multiple organizations including the Florida Theatre.

She lives in Jacksonville with her husband, James and their dogs Bella and Toby.
