Creating a healthy workplace for library staff members is just as important as creating spaces for library patrons. Join Jason Martin and fellow experts in a panel discussion centered around the topic and title of his new book, “Creating Healthy Library Workplaces.” Martin, along with Amy Fyn, Amanda Kaufman, Matty Johnson, and Julie Tedjeske Crane will discuss the Five Factors that Improve Employee and Engagement Satisfaction.

He holds an EdD in educational leadership from the University of Central Florida and an MLS and BA from the University of South Florida. Martin is the author of “Library Leadership Your Way” (2019). He researches, publishes, and presents on leadership, organizational culture, emotional intelligence, productivity, and goal setting. Amy Fyn received her MLIS from Wayne State University in Detriot, Michigan, and an MA from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She is Business Librarian and Associate Professor at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Her research interests include academic librarian retention, library worker side hustles, librarian utilization of the ACRL IL Framework, and peer and group mentoring in academia. Matthew Weirick Johnson is Associate Librarian and Director of Research & Instruction at the University of South Florida Libraries. Johnson is the editor of “Training Library Instructors,” a two-volume work that details examples of programs that teach LIS students and librarians how to teach. Johnson has published work on academic librarian burnout and job control in The Journal of Academic Librarianship, College & Research Libraries, Journal of Library Administration and Academic Librarian Burnout: Causes and Responses. Amanda Foster Kaufman is Learning and Instructional Services Librarian at Wake Foret University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She received her MLIS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her MAED at Wake Forest University, and a BA from Kansas State University. Her research interests include credit-bearing information literacy instruction, online source evaluation, critical information literacy, and librarian retention. Julie Tedjeske Crane serves as Reference Librarian and Professor of Legal Research at Penn State Dickenson Law. She has written and presented on topics such as workplace dynamics, productivity, and work-life balance in academic libraries. In additi
